Despite intense police and military activity, hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans have demonstrated through the big cities against the government of President Nicolás Maduro. Violent clashes between security forces and other paramilitary forces with protesters as well as riots have left dozens injured, about 270 detained and at least 12 dead.
